Short answer
Remeha Quinta Pro boilers lock out with a red flashing display and a code such as E 14. E14 means 5 burner start-up failures: no spark, a spark but no flame, or a flame with ionisation below 3 µA. Other common codes are E12 high-limit thermostat, E16 false flame, E34 fan fault and E36 five flame losses.
Lockout versus blocking
Remeha separates temporary blocking (the boiler retries and restarts once the condition clears) from lock-out (a manual reset is needed after the cause is fixed). Hold the reset key for 2 seconds; if the display shows the service symbol instead, switch off for 10 seconds first.
Before you reset
A single reset after a power cut or a known one-off event is reasonable. Repeated resets are not: many commercial controls count resets and lock out further (for example a 'too many resets' code), and resetting a flame or gas valve fault over and over can mask a dangerous condition. If a lockout returns, isolate the appliance and call a Gas Safe registered engineer with the relevant commercial competence.
Remeha Quinta Pro error codes
| Code | Meaning | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| E 00 | Storage unit PSU parameter not found | Check the wiring |
| E 01 | Safety parameters are incorrect | Check the wiring; replace PSU |
| E 02 | Flow temperature sensor short circuited | Check wiring, sensor fitting; replace sensor if necessary |
| E 03 | Flow temperature sensor open circuit | Check wiring, sensor fitting; replace sensor if necessary |
| E 04 | Heat exchanger temperature too low | Vent the system, check circulation, water pressure, sensors |
| E 05 | Heat exchanger temperature too high | Check circulation, water pressure, sensors, heat exchanger cleanliness |
| E 06 | Return temperature sensor short circuited | Check wiring and sensor |
| E 07 | Return temperature sensor open circuit | Check wiring and sensor |
| E 08 | Return temperature too low | Vent the system, check circulation, water pressure, sensors |
| E 09 | Return temperature too high | Check circulation, water pressure, sensors, heat exchanger |
| E 10 / E 11 | Difference between flow and return temperatures too great | Check circulation, pump, water pressure, sensors, heat exchanger |
| E 12 | Heat exchanger temperature above normal range (high-limit thermostat STB) | Check circulation, water pressure, sensors, heat exchanger |
| E 14 | 5 burner start-up failures | No spark: transformer, electrode, earthing, SU PCB. Spark but no flame: purge gas supply, gas valve open, supply pressure, gas valve setting, air/flue. Flame but ionisation under 3 µA: gas valve, pressure, electrode, earthing |
| E 16 | False flame signal | Ionisation/ignition electrode, ignition transformer, gas valve, CO₂ setting |
| E 17 | Problem on the gas valve SU PCB | Check wiring; inspect and replace SU PCB if needed |
| E 34 | Fan fault | Check wiring, fan and chimney draw |
| E 35 | Flow and return reversed | Check sensors and circulation direction |
| E 36 | 5x flame loss | Purge gas supply, gas valve open, supply pressure, gas valve setting, air/flue, flue gas recirculation |
| E 37 | Communication error with the SU PCB | Check SU PCB seated in the PCU connector |
| E 38 | Communication error with the SCU PCB | Check wiring; replace SCU PCB |
| E 39 | Shutdown input in locked-out mode | Remove external cause, check parameters and wiring |
| E 40 | HRU/URC unit test error | Remove external cause, check parameters and wiring |
