Flue Gas Analysers for Commercial Boilers

Short answer

A flue gas analyser measures O₂, CO, CO₂ and flue temperature, then calculates efficiency and the CO/CO₂ ratio. Commercial boilers and burners must be set to the manufacturer's values at high and low fire, which is impossible without an analyser.

Using it correctly

Sample after the appliance has stabilised, at the correct sample point, and record readings at each firing rate. Analysers need regular sensor calibration.

Figures are typical for UK natural gas. The current edition of the relevant IGEM standard and the manufacturer's instructions always take precedence on site.
