Gas Warm Air and Radiant Heaters for Commercial Buildings

Short answer

Warehouses, factories and workshops are often heated by gas warm air heaters or overhead radiant heaters. Indirect-fired heaters flue combustion products outside; direct-fired units release them into the space, so ventilation must be designed to keep CO₂ within limits.

Radiant heaters

Radiant tube heaters burn gas inside a steel tube and radiate heat downward; plaque heaters run hotter and are flued or unflued depending on design. Mounting height and clearance to combustibles are critical.

Safety checks

Servicing covers burner condition, flame supervision, flue integrity, fan proving, ventilation and clearances.

Figures are typical for UK natural gas. The current edition of the relevant IGEM standard and the manufacturer's instructions always take precedence on site.
