Commercial Gas Water Heaters and CHP Units

Short answer

Gas water heaters supply hot water in kitchens, hotels, gyms and offices, either as direct-fired storage units or continuous-flow (instantaneous) heaters. CHP units burn gas in an engine to generate electricity and recover the heat.

Water heaters

Storage heaters need an unvented safety kit where applicable, a correctly sized flue and annual servicing. Continuous-flow banks need gas supply sized for simultaneous full fire.

CHP

CHP units have high continuous gas demand and specific ventilation and exhaust requirements, and often need a booster or dedicated supply.

Figures are typical for UK natural gas. The current edition of the relevant IGEM standard and the manufacturer's instructions always take precedence on site.
